Join us for the premiere episode of the new SLW Institute webinar series, "AI-Driven Innovation in Medical Technologies." On January 22, Marvin Beekman will present, "Patent Landscape and Trends," with Robert Hirning moderating.

This episode will provide an overview of recent trends of patent filings in AI-related MedTech areas, including a comparison of filing numbers and prosecution outcomes in different technology areas and countries. The presentation will also address geographic filing strategies for these inventions.

Marvin Beekman is a registered patent attorney and a principal at SLW. His practice includes patent prosecution, intellectual property counseling, and opinions. His technical expertise includes active medical device systems, electronics, integrated circuit design and fabrication, computer hardware, applied artificial intelligence, control systems, telecommunications, hydraulic systems, electromechanical systems, and consumer products. He represents small, mid-size, and large companies—from startups to established global enterprises—as well as individual inventors. 

Robert Hirning is a registered patent attorney and a principal at SLW. His practice involves nearly all aspects of patent application preparation, patent prosecution, and portfolio management. He has experience in technology areas including consumer electronic devices, software-driven medical devices, data storage, medical imaging products, applied artificial intelligence, health information systems, consumer products, agriculture technologies, and various niche fields. His legal experience also includes general intellectual property and transactional counseling, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, portfolio valuation and analysis, strategic licensing, and trade secret, copyright, and open source software license counseling.
